SS Alfredo Griffin took home a share of the Rookie of the Year award in the year 1979. New manager Bobby Mattick joined the team, in 1980 session when they recorded 67-95 score. Jays in 1983 season recorded its first winning season as they achieved 4 th place with a record of 89-73, finishing only 9 games out of first. The next season is a marvelous one as the team recorded same score. The Blue jays won their first division title with a score of 99-62 in 1985 season.
